The mission of Arts Iowa City is to make the visual arts flourish through exhibitions,promotion,mentoring,networking and education. AIC exhibits and sells members' works. Membership is open to all Iowans;artists',non-artists and artists from adjoining states.

History; Arts Iowa City is a not-for-profit corporation described under Iowa law as a non-profit private museum, sec.701-17.24.This organization was established in 1975,when a group of concerned citizens met to discuss the need for an arts advocacy group in the Iowa City area community.In february 1975,the City Council and Mayor Edward Czarnecki formally endorsed the Iowa City/Johnson county Arts Council.By-laws for the council were adopted in May,1975.2003 marked a 28 year committment to the visual arts by thousands of artists and volunteer members of this community. |
