On Thursday February 11, celebrate with three historic Johnson County couples. At 1:00 at the Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center (23 S. Linn Street, Iowa City) JCHS Curator Leigh Ann Randak will read excerpts from letters and give a glimpse of lives and relationships through letters to their beloved. The letters (from JCHS Collections) include those Sam Hess wrote from the California Gold Fields to his future wife in Iowa City; Jane Kirkwood wrote from their Iowa City home to her husband while he was serving as Secretary of the Interior; and John Coldren wrote to Phila Clark during their time of courtship in Iowa City in the early 1900s.
