 Des Moines’ Gateway Dance Theatre has been moving to the rhythms of the world since 1972, fusing Indian, African-American, Caribbean and Asian music and movement into a multimedia experience for people of all ages and backgrounds.
Tapestry is a unique and innovative collection of five pieces exploring the beauty and meaning of textiles and their uses throughout the ages. The suite showcases a variety of music, including traditional Indian, Gospel and a piece by Iowa composer Paul Micich’s Emmy-winning band, World Port. Dance styles range from traditional Indian Bharata Natyam to Afro-Caribbean.
