| About - FAQ |
These are some of the Frequently-Asked Questions about Cultural Corridor.org that we have recieved. If your question is not posted, please contact us! How do I list my events on the site? In order to list events on the site, you must be a member or affiliate of the Cedar Rapids Area Cultural Alliance (CRACA) or Johnson County Cultural Alliance (JCCA).
Membership in the Alliances is open to any qualified, 501(c)3 organization or public entity whose primary mission is educational or cultural in nature, and located in Linn, Johnson, or the contiguous Counties. Membership fees vary slightly between the organizations.
The development of this site was funded by the participating organizations, who scraped the money together during some lean economic times.
For more information about the Cedar Rapids Area Cultural Alliance contact Dennis Green.
For more information about the Johnson County Cultural Alliance, contact Josh Schamberger.
Why isn't the event I'm looking for listed? If you don't see a particular group's events, it's because they aren't members of the site or either Alliance. If you are sure one of our alliance members are hosting the event but still cannot find it, then it is likely that particular organization has not posted it. We recommend calling the actual organization to find out more information as each organization is responsible for entering and updating their events & activities.
If you are involved with a group, or would like to see a favorite organization's events listed, your best bet is to get in touch with them, and have them contact us about getting on board. Our email addresses are listed above.
Can individuals and for-profit businesses participate? For-profit companies, individuals, and other organizations wishing to list events on CulturalCorridor.org are welcome to apply for an affiliate membership.
Affiliate membership is by application, and must be approved by the CulturalCorridor.org Oversight Committee to assure the applicant's activities are consistent with the mission of the site.
Affiliate membership cost is based on company or organization size:
| # of Full-Time Employees | Annual Cost | | 1-10 | $200 | | 11-50 | $300 | | 50+ | $400 |
* Download the Affiliate Application here.
Our club, service group or human service agency has an event we want to list. Can we do that? Individuals or Organizations who have fewer than four qualifying events per year, may apply to have them listed for $25 per event. Again, approval by the Oversight Committee is required.
* Download the Single Event Application here.
Listing my events should be free. This site was designed as a service to our communities because the organizations who make up the two Cultural Alliances saw a need that needed to be fulfilled. Membership fees go to support the operation of the site and the Alliances. CulturalCorridor is not a for-profit operation and all of the revenue it generates goes back into the marketing the site . The Site Administrators are volunteers.
We understand that for individuals or small organizations, membership fees can be a lot of money. However, the site cost thousands to develop and was underwritten by the 80 charter organizations who found the money in extremely lean budget times because they thought it was an important service to offer.
It's not fair to those who took all the risk to let others in for free. Plus, if you even have only 20 events a year, that's $5 or $10 per event. We think that's pretty economical.
Can I list events happening outside the Linn or Johnson county areas? At this time, your event must happen within the counties of or immediately adjacent to Linn or Johnson to be listed on the site. If you represent an umbrella association with similar goals to our Alliances, we would be happy to list you on our Links page.
We publish a calendar and would like to download event information en masse. One of the most exciting features of CulturalCorridor is that the information on the site is available not just to individuals, but to the media and other organizations (CVBs, Chambers, etc.) who publish calendar information, either printed or online. This is good for our member organizations as well, since their staffs can spend much less time mailing, faxing or emailing such information to you.
A simple reciprocal agreement is all that's required.
Contact Josh Schamberger or Dennis Green to get a Media user ID and password.
There is incorrect or outdated information on a listing. Organizations input their own event information. If you see something that needs to be corrected, contact the sponsoring organization. Their phone number and email are listed on their Organization page.
I can't find information on an event that's put on by one of your member organizations. Contact the sponsoring organization.
I emailed you a question, and I've been waiting a long time for a reply. The site is professionally designed, but the Site Administrators are volunteers, trying to maintain communications in free moments from our own demanding jobs. We'll answer you as soon as we can! nt
My question isn't answered here. We'll do our best to help you. Fill out the form on the Contact Us page and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
